The service life of any bearing depends heavily on the care and maintenance it receives. This is especially true in industrial applications, where working conditions are often harsh, heavy loads, and dust and pollution are common scales. Bearings are an important part of a major industrial equipment. Bearing problems can lead to costly downtime, equipment damage and failure. In addition, large industrial bearings represent a substantial capital investment.
In order to achieve high equipment performance and reliable operation with low maintenance costs, proper handling methods must be followed. This includes bearing storage, removal, cleaning, inspection and installation. Applicable to all anti-friction bearing designs. Bearings are stocked with special anti-corrosion paint. Bearings are available, but most bearings are not made of anti-corrosion materials. When handling and storing bearings, care must be taken to ensure that they do not rust or corrode. Even wet or unprotected ties left on the hand or a small amount of chemical gloves can cause etching in a small area, which can trigger bearing fatigue.
New and remanufactured bearings are shipped with a protective coating, usually in a protective cover paper or other packaging, and in a carton or wooden box. When receiving a new or remanufactured bearing, do not remove it from packaging until ready to install in the application. Do not store directly on concrete floors, where condensation can collect and bearings. Pallets or bearings on store shelves, where bearings are not exposed to high humidity or sudden and drastic temperature changes that can lead to areas where condensation can form.
Each type of bearing design has a unique removal process. Regardless of bearing type, bearings must be removed with special care. If done incorrectly, it can damage bearings, shafts or housings requiring expensive repairs. For smaller bearings there is a puller to help with bearing removal etc. For locations that are fitted with a tight fit, or press, or have been locked on a shaft, the bearing puller cannot be mechanically removed, and the inner race of the bearing can be heated to ease removal. Heat lamps or other heating devices can be used. If a flare occurs, it will change the properties of the bearing steel and the bearing must be discarded.
Under certain special operating conditions, the bearing life can be obtained longer than the traditional calculation, especially in the case of light load. These special operating conditions are when the rolling surfaces (tracks and rolling elements) are effectively separated by a lubricating film and limit contamination that may cause surface damage. In fact, under ideal conditions, so-called permanent bearing life is possible.
1. The lubricating oil has impurities, is too dirty, the oil ring is stuck or the grade is wrong. The oil should be changed, the cause of the jam should be found out and repaired, and the lubricating oil should be replaced when the oil viscosity is too large;
2. The bearing is damaged. Check the balls of the ball bearing or the pads of the ball bearing for damage. Repair or replace if damaged;
3. The bearing chamber lacks oil. Fill 2/3 of the oil chamber with grease or add lubricating oil to the standard oil level line
4. The grease in the rolling bearing is blocked too much, and the temperature of the lubricating oil in the sliding bearing is too low or too high. Excessive grease in the rolling bearing should be removed, or the grease in the oil chamber should be filled to 2/3;
5. The bearing and the shaft, the bearing and the end cover are too loose or too tight, too tight will cause the bearing to deform, and too loose will easily cause "running sleeve". When the bearing and the shaft are too loose, the journal can be painted with metallic paint, and when it is too tight, it can be reworked; if the bearing and the end cover are too loose, the end cover can be tightened, and when it is too tight, the end cover can be reworked.
